Dinsmore Empoyee Spolights – Regina

We are continuing our efforts to introduce you to the people that work and serve you, our valued customers. This week, we’re featuring Regina Tran, a 3D printing and additive manufacturing Lab Team leader.

We sat down with Regina for a Q&A to help you get to know her a little better, and learn what brought her to our team.

How were you introduced to Dinsmore and what is your current role?

I graduated from UC Irvine as a Pure Mathematics major, but decided to become a Certified SOLIDWORKS Expert through SolidTrans Engineering. I was on a class tour of Dinsmore’s facilities and almost got the job by chance because I was lucky enough to be scheduled for a last minute interview. A few of my other classmates were scheduled for an interview –portfolio and resume in tow – while the rest of us were just expecting a traditional tour visit. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to interview and even more so when I was offered the job.

My current title is Carbon Lab Team Leader, managing all projects that run on our Carbon M-series machines, and have my hands in quite a bit of other projects as well. I also work on quoting and job planning for our customers.

When were you first introduced to 3D printing? Do you have a favorite technology?

My sister works as a CAD Designer and talked me into taking SOLIDWORKS classes. It was in that class that I learned about 3D printing and took interest in the impact it could have across industries. Besides my obvious interest in the application of Carbon’s DLS (Digital Light Synthesis) technology for manufacturing applications, I would have to say that PolyJet is my favorite technology at the moment. The ability to do multiple prints and not having to manually support anything makes life easier- especially when working on quick turn arounds for prototypes.

Are you an expert in any specific applications/technologies/supporting technologies?

As much as I love the CLIP/DLS technology, I would have to say that PolyJet is my favorite. The ability to do multiprints and not having to manually support anything makes life much easier.

Are you an expert in any specific applications/technologies?

CLIP/DLS technology is relatively new, but I would hope to consider myself as one of the experts in the field. I am a Certified SOLIDWORKS Expert, and very well versed in SLA, FDM, and PolyJet technologies as well. I also work extensively with Magics.

What project(s) are you personally most proud of since you started at Dinsmore?

I can’t really place a finger on any one specific project, but I am quite proud of the jobs that my team and I have been able to pull off with great results using the Carbon M-series printers. We take pride in the accuracy and quality of parts that come off our machines.

Which industries or customers do you think benefit the most from 3D printing technologies? Why?

At Dinsmore we want to make sure the customer is getting exactly what they are looking for. Other service providers may just take a customer’s file as is and attempt to print it, only to tell the customers after the fact that their files are actually not 3D printable. We pride ourselves in being transparent with our customers throughout their journey with is and want to make sure that they are well educated about all of our technologies. We offer design and engineering services for prototyping and manufacturing, helping them manage any inconsistencies before an order is placed. Our customers can have peace of mind about how their parts will turn out.

What do you think differentiates the Dinsmore team and services in the industry?

We want to make sure the customer is getting exactly what they are looking for. Other companies may just take their files and attempt to print them, only to tell the customers that their files are actually not 3D printable after the fact. We want to make sure that they are well educated in all of our technologies and help them choose what fits their needs best. We also look over their files and warn them of any inconsistencies before they become an order, so that the customer can have peace of mind about how their parts are going to come out.
